With fruit sourced from the famous Clare Valley region of South Australia, this cool climate wine has a fragrant nose, followed by a lively palate; with touches of mint, dark plums and a slightly herbaceous spicy finish. Delicate use of French oak combines well with the balanced fruit with weight and acid structure. This Cabernet will benefit from further cellaring. - Josef Orbach, Side Gate Winemaker
Side Gate 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Clare Valley A well made wine, with no lofty ambitions, but has far more going for it than most $18 cabernets. Varietal character is there, with hints of mint and herbaceous notes (as Josef Orbach notes on the back label), but the mouthfeel, balance and length are all good, the oak, tannins and alcohol all very good.
