2018 Tempranillo Adelaide Hills
Tempranillo grapes are well suited to the Adelaide Hills region. They ripen early, love altitude and thrive in cool climate conditions. The grapes were fermented in open tanks for ten days, then pressed and transferred to French oak barrels for 1 year. The finished wine delivers contrasting flavours. Deep crimson in colour this wine is best described as a “big bold” Spanish style red.

JAMES HALLIDAY WINE COMPANION REVIEW:
2018 Side Gate Art Series Tempranillo - Adelaide Hills | SILVER 91/100
Macerated for 10 days before transfer to older French wood for a year of maturation. A large-framed wine that is as pulpy, grapey and joyous as it is astringent and twiggy across the finish. This said, it is among the better renditions of this grape in Australia and I have faith that the components will meld in time. Dark fruit allusions, anise and violet.
ART SERIES BY SIDE GATE:
This unique label by Benjamin Aitken is the inaugural edition of the Side Gate Art Series by our winemaker, Josef Orbach. This label was born out of love for two things: A passion for traditional Spanish-style reds, and the wonder of sharing great art.
